Winner of the 47th Hunger Games.
Alyser was a volunteer for his blind brother. His calm focus and quick thinking allowed him to react much faster than his opponents could and made him highly adept at close combat. He refused to form an alliance or have any sentimental connection to the other tributes so he would not hesitate to cut them down - it came to the point that he didn't even see them as being human anymore. Using a sword as his main weapon, he took every opportunity to make a swift kill, slicing most of his opponents in half. Once he left the arena, he became overwhelmed with guilt, ashamed of the morals he had to compromise in order to win.
For the first several years after his victory, he refused to be a mentor for District 5 or a prostitute for the Capitol. He eventually caved into the Capitol's demands after the sudden disappearance of his brother, but after many more years Alyser has given up on the idea of ever seeing him again. He doubts the Capitol would have kept his brother alive as a hostage for so long.
Alyser has alternated in and out with other District 5 victors for the role of mentor. Before the 60th Hunger Games, he has mentored 4 other tributes, all of which have died. He is unsure if winning the Games is a worse fate than dying in the arena, and his desire to lessen the length of his tributes' suffering has made him hesitant to help them survive. However, this does not mean that he would forsake his tributes; he will do everything in his power to bring inner peace to their lives before they lose everything in the arena.
And the world may never know.
Getting to the character, though, he's rather cute.
Will he be working with another mentor for these Games, or will he be mentoring both Nami and Gavriil?
Alyser was about 15 years old when he was a tribute. And from what I've been told, both Rosli and Vixii have expressed interest in having their characters become mentors for the 60th, so Alyser will be mentoring alongside whoever wins the 59th.
Hey, Flywheel was 15 when she won, too! 8D Okay, that makes sense.
